The PlayStation Portable (PSP) is a seventh generation handheld console manufactured by Sony Computer Entertainment. It was released in Japan on December 12, 2004, in America on March 24, 2005, and In Europe on September 1, 2005. It was the only portable video game console to use disc-based media in the form of UMDs (Universal Media Drive). It was also Sony's 1st portable video game console with the PlayStation brand. The PSP was later succeeded by the PlayStation Vita, released in later 2011 in Japan, and throughout 2012 worldwide.
